Bow, NH – Principal Seriously Hurt in Parking Lot Crash at Bow Elementary School

Bow, NH (February 11, 2026) – A school principal was seriously hurt after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of Bow Elementary School on Wednesday, February 11.
Police responded to the school, located on Bow Center Road, around 9:50 a.m. The crash happened as the principal assisted with morning parking lot traffic after a snow-related school delay.
A vehicle hit the principal near the start of the school day. Emergency units arrived and treated the principal at the scene before taking them to a local hospital.
Officials said the injuries were serious but not considered life-threatening. Students and staff were arriving at the time, and neighbors watched as crews worked in the snowy lot.
Police asked anyone who saw what happened to contact the school resource officer. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
We wish the injured victim a rapid and complete recovery.
What You Should Know About Pedestrian Accidents in School Parking Lots in New Hampshire
A pedestrian crash in a school parking lot can cause serious injuries to the injured victim, even at low speeds. Victims may face broken bones, head injuries, or painful bruising, and recovery can take weeks or longer.
New Hampshire sees pedestrian injuries each year, and winter weather can make school drop-off areas more dangerous with snow and poor visibility.
Recent data shows that New Hampshire reports several hundred pedestrian accidents each year, with pedestrians making up a significant share of traffic fatalities. In 2023, the state recorded over 300 pedestrian accidents, and nearly 20 % of all traffic deaths involved pedestrians, particularly in busier urban areas such as Nashua.
Pedestrian accidents in New Hampshire stem from common roadway safety issues: drivers distracted by phones or other activities, speeding, and failure to yield at crosswalks or intersections are frequently cited factors in collisions with people on foot.
Impaired driving due to alcohol or drugs and poor visibility in bad weather or after dark also contribute to the risk for pedestrians in the state. Inadequate lighting and crosswalk design can make walking near traffic especially hazardous.
Medical bills and time away from work can quickly add stress for the injured pedestrian and their family. Pain, follow-up treatment, and emotional shock are also common after a sudden crash near a school.
A personal injury lawyer can explain your options after a pedestrian crash. In some cases, you may be able to seek compensation for medical costs, lost income, pain and suffering, and other related injuries and losses.
