Nashua, NH (June 1, 2026) – A second-floor apartment fire left a woman dead on Morgan Street in Nashua late Sunday night, May 31. Nashua Fire said they found Stephanie Lemay, 46, dead inside a multi-family home from smoke inhalation.

Ten people were displaced by the blaze. One apartment was badly damaged, while the rest of the building sustained smoke damage. Emergency units responded late Sunday night and discovered Lemay’s body upon entering the second-floor unit.

Fire officials said the cause of the blaze has not yet been determined but is not considered suspicious. The investigation into what started the fire remains ongoing.

We extend our deepest condolences to Stephanie Lemay’s children, friends, and everyone who loved her.

What Legal Options Do Families Have After a Fire Death in Nashua, NH?

When someone dies in a residential fire, surviving family members may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim if negligence played a role. In New Hampshire, landlords are legally required to maintain rental properties in a reasonably safe condition, which includes functioning smoke detectors, proper fire exits, and compliance with applicable building and fire codes. If an investigation reveals that a property owner failed to meet those obligations and that failure contributed to a tenant’s death, the family may be eligible to seek compensation through a civil claim.

Multi-family residential buildings in Nashua and throughout Hillsborough County vary widely in age and condition. Older housing stock can present elevated fire risk when properties are not properly maintained. Common issues in older buildings include outdated electrical wiring, inadequate fire suppression systems, and insufficient separation between units.

A wrongful death claim in a fire case may cover funeral and burial expenses, the loss of the deceased’s financial contributions to the household, and the loss of companionship for surviving family members. New Hampshire law permits certain relatives to bring these claims on behalf of a person who died due to another’s negligence. The state’s wrongful death statute generally allows three years from the date of death to file, though beginning the process early helps preserve critical evidence.

Building and fire code violations, if present, can be central to establishing liability in a case like this. A wrongful death attorney may work alongside fire investigators and building inspectors to determine whether the property met required safety standards at the time of the fire. Maintenance records, inspection histories, and prior complaints about the building’s condition can all become relevant in a wrongful death claim that involved a rental property.

If your family has lost someone in a residential fire in New Hampshire, Stephen Law can help you understand what legal options may be available. We can carefully review your case and analyze what legal options may be available for your family based on New Hampshire law.

Salem, NH (May 29, 2026) – A motorcycle and a pickup truck collided on Haverville Road in Salem on Thursday, May 28. The crash left Steven White, of Derry, New Hampshire, dead. The Salem Police Department said the accident happened just before 7:44 p.m.

According to officials, White was riding northbound on Haverhill Road when a southbound Dodge pickup truck, driven by a 17-year-old from Salem, turned left into a driveway and struck him. Nearby witnesses and emergency units attempted lifesaving measures, but White was pronounced dead at the scene.

Haverhill Road was closed after the wreck while a collision analysis and reconstruction unit responded. No further details about the teen driver had been released at the time of publication.

The investigation remains active as authorities work to piece together the full sequence of events.

Our sincere condolences go out to Steven White’s family during this incredibly difficult time.

Families’ Options After a Fatal Crash in Salem, NH

In New Hampshire, the family of a person who dies due to another driver’s negligence may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim. This type of claim can allow surviving family members to seek compensation for lost financial support, funeral costs, and the loss of companionship.

Left-turn crashes are among the most dangerous scenarios motorcyclists face, and they are not uncommon on roads throughout Rockingham County. Haverhill Road itself carries significant through traffic, which makes it very prone to serious collisions. Motorcyclists can have very little time to react when a turning vehicle cuts across their path.

These crashes often result in catastrophic or fatal injuries because riders lack the physical protection that enclosed vehicles provide. Families left behind may face sudden financial hardship alongside their grief, from medical bills incurred before death to the long-term loss of a loved one’s income and presence.

To understand who may bear legal responsibility after a fatal crash, a wrongful death attorney can help families by reviewing the specific details of the case. Fault can be laid on a driver, an insurer, or another party. Legal guidance can clarify what types of compensation could be available and how to protect the family’s rights.

If you have lost a loved one in a fatal accident in New Hampshire and are uncertain about what steps to take next, our team can guide you. At Stephen Law, we can review your case and explain to your family what legal options may fit your situation.

To speak with our team about your situation, contact Stephen Law at (877) 663-1007. We are available to answer all your doubts.

Rollinsford, NH (May 27, 2026) – A section of Portland Avenue in Rollinsford remained closed on Wednesday afternon, May 27, following a serious roadway collision that ended in injuries.

The closure affected traffic between Roberts Road and General Sullivan Way for several hours.

Drivers were asked to avoid the roadway and use alternate routes while emergency units worked in the area. Police did not release information about how many vehicles were involved.

No details about the extent of the injuries had been made public as of Wednesday evening. Officials continue working to determine what led to the collision.

We are thinking of everyone involved and hope for a quick and total recovery for those injured.

What Are the Main Roads and Highways in Rollinsford, NH?

Rollinsford, New Hampshire, has several key roads that link the town with nearby communities in Strafford County and southern Maine.

One of the most notable routes is New Hampshire Route 4, also known locally as Portland Avenue. The roadway runs through Rollinsford before crossing the Salmon Falls River into South Berwick, Maine, where it continues as Maine State Route 4. The route also connects travelers to downtown Dover and other major regional roads.

Portland Avenue serves as a primary east-west connection for local and regional traffic moving between New Hampshire and Maine. Roads such as Roberts Road and General Sullivan Way also connect neighborhoods and local destinations within Rollinsford.

The town’s highway department regularly shares updates about road projects, hazards, and roadway conditions through official municipal channels.

Nearby Dover provides additional access to major travel corridors, including NH Route 108 and the Spaulding Turnpike area. NH Route 108 connects Dover with Somersworth and Rochester, while NH Route 4 links traffic toward the Seacoast region and nearby interstate connections.

Official state transportation resources identify NH Route 4 as the primary state highway passing through Rollinsford. Publicly available state mapping tools also show its importance as a regional connector for both local residents and through traffic.

Unfortunately, crashes in Rollinsford are not isolated mishaps. And when they happen, it’s best to be prepared to face the complex aftermath that usually follows these types of incidents.

A car accident lawyer can help explain what legal options may be available for you after a crash in New Hampshire. Depending on the circumstances, legal guidance may help you gather records, review insurance questions, and better understand what compensation could apply to medical expenses or lost income.

Stephen Law is available to answer any questions you may have about a personal injury claim in Rollinsford or anywhere else in New Hampshire.

Manchester, NH (May 26, 2026) – On Monday morning, May 25, at least one person was hurt in a crash on Mammoth Road in front of Derryfield Country Club in Manchester. Manchester Police and emergency units responded promptly to the scene.

The severity of injuries and the number of vehicles involved were not confirmed in the initial report.

However, the collision remains under review.

We wish those who have been hurt in this wreck a smooth recovery.

Crash Injuries in Manchester, NH: What a Personal Injury Claim Can Cover

Medical bills after a road collision in Manchester, NH can pile up faster than most people expect. Emergency care, imaging, follow-up visits, and physical therapy can quickly reach figures that feel overwhelming.

In New Hampshire, a person hurt through another driver’s negligence may be able to seek compensation that covers those costs, along with lost income and damages for pain and suffering. What many people don’t realize is that a claim can also account for future medical needs if an injury requires ongoing treatment.

Mammoth Road is one of Manchester’s longer north-south corridors, running through a mix of residential stretches, recreational areas, and commercial zones. Crashes along this corridor are not uncommon, and the range of speed limits across different sections can create unpredictable conditions for drivers.

Soft tissue injuries, headaches, and joint pain injuries may not surface until a day or two after a crash, so follow-up care matters even when you feel mostly fine right after.

Documenting injuries early is one of the most important steps a person can take after any wreck on a road like this. A medical record that clearly links your symptoms to the collision gives a Manchester car accident attorney something concrete to work with and gives insurance adjusters less room to dispute the connection.

If you were injured in a crash in Manchester or anywhere throughout Hillsborough County, NH, we can answer your questions and guide you through the process. At Stephen Law, we can review the details of your situation and help you understand your next steps.

To find out what legal options may be available in your case, you can reach out to Stephen Law at (877) 663-1007.

Everett, MA (May 23, 2026) – Several students received minor injuries on Thursday afternoon, May 21, after a school bus and a BMW collided near Broadway and Langdon Street in Everett.

Video from the area showed shattered glass and debris scattered across the roadway as emergency units worked nearby.

Officials said 11 students from the Devens School were riding on the bus along with a driver and monitor. According to preliminary information, the bus was turning left onto Langdon Street when the oncoming BMW struck it.

Nine students were taken to a hospital for evaluation, and school leaders said the students were expected to recover.

A grandparent later said one child involved was doing well after the collision. The names and ages of the people involved have not been released so far.

Investigators are still reviewing what led up to the roadway impact near Broadway.

We hope those receiving medical treatment recover quickly and fully.

What Can Families Do After a School Bus Collision in Everett, MA?

Families whose kids have been injured in a school bus collision in Everett may want to document medical visits, keep records of expenses, and gather available information about what happened.

Massachusetts law can allow injured passengers to seek financial recovery depending on the circumstances surrounding the roadway impact.

Roads such as Broadway and nearby Route 99 carry steady daily traffic through Middlesex County, which can increase the risk of serious vehicle contact during busy afternoon hours.

Children and adults involved in bus-related roadway incidents can experience a range of physical problems, including neck pain, head trauma, bruising, and soft tissue damage.

Some symptoms may appear later, even after a person initially feels fine. Medical follow-up can help identify injuries that are not immediately visible.

A personal injury lawyer may help families review insurance coverage, medical documentation, and other records connected to the case.

Legal guidance can also help explain whether compensation may be available for medical costs, missed work, or other losses tied to the collision. However, it is important to remember that each claim depends on the specific facts involved.

Stephen Law can answer questions about legal options after a bus accident in Everett or elsewhere in Massachusetts.
Keene, NH (May 20, 2026) – A tragic pedestrian accident claimed the life of a person in Keene. A 78-year-old woman died after a crash involving a recycling truck outside a restaurant on Winchester Street. The accident happened shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19.

Authorities said Pamela Savard was walking behind a recycling truck as the driver backed into the Chipotle parking lot. During the maneuver, the truck struck Savard, causing fatal injuries. Emergency crews responded to the scene, but officials confirmed the woman died from her injuries.

Officials closed part of Ivy Drive and the parking lot for several hours while investigators documented the scene and gathered evidence. Police are also asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to contact investigators.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased victim.

Pedestrian Accident Risks on Keene, NH Roads: Streets With the Highest Safety Concerns

Keene’s growing traffic volume and busy commercial corridors have increased concerns about pedestrian safety in several parts of the city. Roads such as Winchester Street, Main Street, West Street, and Marlboro Street are among the busiest travel areas in Keene and regularly see heavy vehicle and foot traffic throughout the day.

Intersections near shopping centers, restaurants, schools, and downtown businesses often create additional risks for pedestrians trying to cross multiple lanes of traffic or navigate congested areas. Recent pedestrian crashes reported near Winchester Street and Madison Street have also renewed local discussions about roadway safety and driver awareness in Keene.

Winchester Street remains one of the most heavily traveled roads in the city because it connects retail districts, restaurants, and major routes leading in and out of Keene. Areas near the Winchester Street roundabouts and intersections with Main Street and Key Road frequently experience high traffic volumes.

Main Street in downtown Keene also presents challenges due to constant pedestrian activity, parked vehicles, and busy crosswalks. Marlboro Street, which carries New Hampshire Route 101 through the city, is another roadway where pedestrians and fast-moving traffic often interact. (

Pedestrian accidents, especially those that turn fatal, can leave families facing complex emotional and financial challenges. Questions about liability may arise while bills start piling up.

After a loved one has been suddenly killed in a pedestrian accident in Keene, our team can guide you through possible next legal steps. At Stephen Law, we have years of experience handling all sorts of New Hampshire wrongful death cases, and we can explain the options available to you and your family under state law.

Manchester, NH (May 18, 2026) – A two-car crash with reported injuries occurred on Saturday, May 16, at the intersection of Bridge Street and Elm Street in Manchester. Manchester Police and emergency units responded to the scene and found two vehicles involved in the accident.

Responders assessed those hurt at the scene. Authorities confirmed that injuries were reported, though none were considered life-threatening.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision. Further details have not been released at this time.

Our thoughts remain with those injured in this crash as they recover from their injuries.

Compensation That Victims Can Recover After a Car Accident in Manchester, NH

After a car accident in Manchester, injured victims may be eligible to seek several types of compensation depending on the circumstances of the crash. These include medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, and pain and suffering. The strength of a claim often depends on how well documented the injuries and losses are from the start.

New Hampshire is one of the few states that does not require drivers to carry personal injury protection or no-fault insurance. This means that after a crash, injured people generally pursue compensation directly through the at-fault driver’s liability insurance.

New Hampshire follows a modified comparative fault rule, which directly affects how compensation works after a collision. Under this rule, an injured person can seek damages as long as they are found to be less than 51 percent at fault for the accident.

However, any compensation they may be eligible to receive gets reduced by their percentage of fault. For example, if a person suffers $50,000 in losses but a court finds them 20 percent responsible for the crash, their recoverable amount would be reduced accordingly.

A car accident attorney can help review the facts of a case and explain how fault may apply to a specific situation.

Beyond medical bills and lost income, New Hampshire law also allows injured people to seek non-economic damages. These include compensation for pain and suffering, emotional distress, and reduced quality of life following a serious injury.

At Stephen Law, we have years of experience reviewing car accident cases throughout Manchester and Hillsborough County, and we can help explain how compensation, insurance coverage, and documentation work together after a crash.

If you have questions following a collision in Manchester, you can call Stephen Law at (877) 663-1007 to discuss your available options.

Marlborough, NH (May 15, 2026) – A deadly crash between a school bus and a pickup truck closed a stretch of Route 12 in Marlborough on Friday, May 15. The accident happened at around 7:15 a.m. near the area of Webb Depot Road.

New Hampshire State Police and emergency units responded to the scene and declared a mass casualty incident due to the number of people involved. The designation brought in additional resources to help treat those affected. About a dozen people on the bus were evaluated and treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck died as a result of the crash. None of the children aboard the bus suffered serious injuries. However, some students were taken to Cheshire Medical Center for further treatment.

The school bus was carrying students from Monadnock Regional Middle-High School at the time of the accident. The district superintendent confirmed the students were safe and said the school would be reaching out to parents directly.

Authorities closed a section of Route 12 near Webb Depot Road for several hours following the collision. Drivers in the area were urged to find alternate routes while the investigation remained active.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the pickup truck driver who lost their life in this tragic accident and wish a full recovery to those injured.

What Happens After a Fatal School Bus Crash in Marlborough, NH?

After a bus accident in Marlborough, families may have questions about next steps. Medical bills, insurance communication, and documentation can feel hard to manage, especially when children are involved.

Moreover, those involved in bus accidents may not notice all symptoms right away, even those with minor injuries. Soreness, stiffness, or headaches can appear hours after the accident. In this particular case, some students taken to Cheshire Medical Center may need follow-up care even after being treated and released.

Others evaluated at the scene may notice new discomfort in the days that follow. This shows how getting a medical check shortly after a crash, even when injuries seem minor, can help identify problems early and creates a record of what happened.

Fatal crashes involving school buses on roads such as Route 12 in Marlborough raise serious questions for families and drivers alike. New Hampshire sees a number of serious road accidents each year on its rural highways, where two-lane roads like Route 12 connect small towns across Cheshire County.

The state’s figures on serious and fatal crashes are concerning, to say the least, especially in rural scenarios. New Hampshire recorded 135 roadway fatalities in 2024, according to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and State Police. Approximately 55% of fatal crashes occurred in rural areas.

The NH Office of Highway Safety reported that overall crashes increased 2% in 2024, while traffic fatalities increased 8% from 2023. NHDOT states that rural roads continue to account for a disproportionate share of severe crashes, with rural areas making up roughly 55% of New Hampshire fatal crash deaths despite lower traffic volumes.

The aftermath of a car accident in rural New Hampshire is never easy, but help is available. A personal injury lawyer can review available records, explain how New Hampshire law may apply to the situation, and clarify what options may be available to those affected.

After your child or a loved one has been involved in a school bus accident in New Hampshire, our team can guide you through possible next legal steps. At Stephen Law, we have years of experience examining injury cases involving vehicle crashes and explaining the options available under New Hampshire law.

Do you have questions about a bus accident in Marlborough? We invite you to contact Stephen Law at (877) 663-1007. We’re here to help you understand your rights and assess your options to make informed decisions with your case.

Rochester, NH (May 7, 2026) – Two people suffered serious injuries following a pair of crashes on the Spaulding Turnpike/Route 16 on Wednesday, May 6, that led to the arrest of a New Jersey man.

The first incident occurred at 10:31 p.m. near Exit 17 in Milton, when a 2004 Toyota Sienna minivan crossed the centerline and sideswiped a 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by Corissa Babineau, 21, of Concord. No injuries were reported in that crash. The driver of the minivan fled the scene.

Just three minutes later, a second crash was reported near the Cross Road overpass in Rochester, involving the same minivan. The driver, identified as Deivid Aquino De Oliveira, 40, of Newark, New Jersey, was heading southbound when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic.

His minivan struck a northbound 2019 Toyota Corolla driven by Ryan Moriarty, 44, of Milton, head-on, causing the minivan to spin and the Corolla to overturn.

A third vehicle, a 2018 Jeep Compass driven by Hayley Cartier, 32, of East Wakefield, was traveling behind Moriarty and sustained damage in the collision. Cartier was not hurt.

Both De Oliveira and Moriarty suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. Investigators noted that De Oliveira showed signs of impairment at the scene.

De Oliveira was arrested at the hospital on charges including felony aggravated driving under the influence, reckless conduct, vehicular assault, and conduct after an accident.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crashes.

Our thoughts remain with those hurt as they recover from their injuries.

What Happens When You’re Hit by a Drunk Driver in Rochester, NH?

After a drunk driving crash in Rochester, if the at-fault driver is found impaired, they may face criminal charges such as aggravated DUI, vehicular assault, or reckless conduct, all of which can directly support your civil injury claim. A criminal conviction or arrest record can serve as powerful evidence in a personal injury case.

As an injured victim, you may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages. New Hampshire follows a fault-based system, meaning the impaired driver’s insurance is responsible for covering your losses.

However, insurance companies rarely make that process simple or straightforward.

All in all, being hit by a drunk driver in Rochester is a traumatic experience that can leave victims facing serious injuries, mounting medical bills, and a long road to recovery.

Whether the crash happens on the Spaulding Turnpike, Route 16, or any local road running through the Granite State, the steps you take after the accident matter enormously. So if you or someone you love was hurt by a drunk driver in the area, a consultation with a Rochester personal injury attorney can help you understand your rights.

At Stephen Law, we help victims of DUI accidents recover. The aftermath of these types of crashes is complex, and we know the psychological impact they have on you and your family.

We can review your case, explain your rights, and handle all the legal aspects of your case so you can focus on your physical and emotional recovery.

You can contact Stephen Law at (877) 663-1007 to speak with our drunk driving accident attorneys about your claim and learn more about the options that may be available to you after your DUI accident in Rochester.

New Hampshire’s roads have been getting deadlier every year. From 2014 to 2024, traffic fatalities in the Granite State increased by 42 percent and the fatality rate rose by 36 percent, trends that place New Hampshire among the states with the most urgent need for intervention.

Now, the U.S. federal government has launched a sweeping national traffic safety plan called Pathways to Safer Streets (P2SS), and understanding what it means for drivers, families, and communities here is important for everyone who gets behind the wheel in the Granite State.

How Bad Is New Hampshire’s Traffic Safety Crisis Right Now?

New Hampshire closed 2025 with 137 traffic fatalities, two more than the 135 recorded in 2024, itself a 6 percent increase over 2023. The state’s Driving Toward Zero program has set a goal of reducing roadway fatalities by 50 percent by 2030, a target that grows harder with each passing year.

Based on official statistics, in 2022, 36 percent of fatalities involved alcohol; speeding contributes to about one-third of all fatal crashes statewide; and in 2024, deaths among drivers ages 16 to 21 jumped by 233 percent, the highest such spike in over a decade.

Geographically, rural areas accounted for 58 percent of all fatalities and serious injuries from 2019 to 2023, despite representing only 41 percent of vehicle miles traveled.

The state’s most dangerous highway is I-93, running through Salem, Manchester, and Concord. SR-101 — once called the “Highway of Death” for the segment between exits 5 and 6 in Raymond — and SR-16 (the Spaulding Turnpike) rank close behind.

Off the interstates, Beech Street and Cilley Road in Manchester, Main Street and Hollis Street in Nashua, and Loudon Road and Fort Eddy Road in Concord see disproportionate crash rates.

Nashua alone has three of the eight most dangerous intersections in New Hampshire, including Main Street and Hollis Street, among the 50 most dangerous in all of New England.

What Is the NHTSA “Pathways to Safer Streets” Initiative?

Pathways to Safer Streets is a national traffic safety action plan launched by NHTSA in April 2026 around eight coordinated strategies:

Re-engaging law enforcement;

combating impaired driving;

maximizing occupant protection;

targeting excessive speed;

eliminating distracted driving;

expanding prehospital blood access;

building a national partnership network; and

leveraging state highway safety offices.

It restores lapsed grant programs and introduces technology-driven enforcement tools, each with direct implications for New Hampshire.

How Will P2SS Shape Law Enforcement and Speed Enforcement on New Hampshire Roads?

More patrols, more checkpoints, and more data-driven enforcement on New Hampshire’s most dangerous corridors are the direct results of these pathways. NHTSA has restored full funding for the Data-Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS) program, which the state’s Governor’s Special Task Force on Highway Safety has called for expanding on high-crash corridors including I-93, Route 101, and the Spaulding Turnpike.

The speeding data alone shows how urgent this is. In 2023, New Hampshire State Police recorded 840 stops involving drivers exceeding 90 mph, nearly triple the 359 recorded in 2015. A driver was documented exceeding 140 mph while evading state troopers.

Under current law, driving at 86 mph or faster carries a standard fine of $434; reckless driving above 100 mph carries a minimum $620 fine and a 60-day license suspension.

P2SS’s push for heavier penalties and intelligent speed assistance devices for repeat offenders could meaningfully strengthen what New Hampshire already has on the books.

What Does the P2SS Impaired Driving Pathway Mean for New Hampshire DWI Law?

The federal plan adds Impaired Driving Tracking Systems, broader ignition interlock device (IID) use, expanded toxicology support, and oral fluid drug testing, tools that address impairment beyond alcohol.

New Hampshire already requires IIDs for certain DWI offenders, but drug-impaired driving, including cannabis, “remains difficult to measure but continues to be present in serious crashes,” per NHDOT’s 2025 Driving Toward Zero snapshot.

Oral fluid testing would give officers a roadside tool for detecting drug impairment that breathalyzers cannot provide.

The Governor’s Special Task Force has recommended expanding IID use and strengthening the Administrative License Suspension framework; P2SS grants could accelerate these changes.

Why Is New Hampshire’s Seat Belt Gap the Most Urgent P2SS Challenge?

New Hampshire is the only state in the country that does not require adults to wear a seat belt, and the consequences are measurable. Only 77.9 percent of New Hampshire vehicle occupants wear a seat belt, compared to a national average of 91.9 percent, according to the National Safety Council.

NHTSA estimates that 68 percent of occupant deaths in New Hampshire vehicles involve unrestrained drivers or passengers. NHDOT confirmed that in 2025, most unbelted fatalities occurred on local roads and short trips, not highways.

NHTSA estimates that enacting a primary seat belt law in New Hampshire would produce $7.9 million in savings to government and insurers, and research shows that states with primary seat belt laws see an average 21 percent drop in traffic fatality rates.

P2SS promotes the “Rural High Five” program targeting low-use areas and expanded nighttime enforcement, both directly applicable to New Hampshire’s crash patterns and geography.

How Does P2SS Address Distracted Driving and Prehospital Care in New Hampshire?

New Hampshire’s hands-free law already carries primary enforcement, with fines of $100 for a first offense, $250 for a second, and $500 for a third within two years. But enforcement gaps remain a serious and current issue: during a statewide April 2025 distracted driving mobilization, 46 agencies stopped 1,283 motorists and issued just 102 summons for distracted driving and mobile device violations combined.

On prehospital care, NHTSA and USDOT have invested $80 million to expand blood transfusion capabilities at the roadside, with research showing a 37 percent reduction in mortality for severe trauma patients.

This matters acutely in New Hampshire, where 58 percent of fatal crashes and serious injuries from 2019 to 2023 occurred on rural roads (often far from trauma centers), including routes through Cheshire and Sullivan Counties and corridors like Jefferson Notch Road in the North Country.

What Are the Key Legal Implications of P2SS for New Hampshire Drivers and Accident Victims?

P2SS is reshaping the enforcement, evidentiary, and liability landscape for anyone on New Hampshire roads. Increased federal grant funding means more patrols and checkpoints on I-93, Route 101, and SR-16.

Mobile data research signals that phone records and vehicle data will play a growing role in determining fault in personal injury claims.

New Hampshire’s comparative fault framework means that being unrestrained at the time of a crash can be raised in litigation, even though adults cannot currently be cited solely for failing to buckle up.

And while New Hampshire repealed annual vehicle safety inspections in 2025 through HB2, equipment standards remain fully in force, and P2SS’s enforcement emphasis may heighten police attention to equipment violations.

Frequently Asked Questions: P2SS and New Hampshire Traffic Law

Does New Hampshire have to follow the Pathways to Safer Streets guidelines?

P2SS is a federal initiative, not a mandate. States are not required to adopt its programs, but many pathways come with grant funding tied to participation — a strong financial incentive for New Hampshire to align with the federal framework.

Can I be ticketed in New Hampshire for not wearing a seat belt as an adult?

No. Adults 18 and older cannot be cited solely for failing to wear a seat belt. All passengers under 18 must be restrained by law, and the absence of a belt may affect a personal injury claim if you are in a crash.

Can phone data be used as evidence in a New Hampshire crash case?

Yes. Electronic data (including phone records, GPS data, and telematics information) can be subpoenaed in civil litigation and used to establish whether a driver was speeding or distracted at the time of the crash.

Injured in a Speeding Accident in New Hampshire? Talk to Stephen Law Group

Ossipee, NH (May 2, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash on Saturday, May 2, left several people injured, including multiple children, in Ossipee. The incident occurred at an intersection along Route 16 and Pine River Road.

The crash involved three vehicles, and eight people were injured, including five children. Emergency crews responded to the scene and provided medical assistance to those hurt in the collision.

They were evaluated and transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been fully disclosed, though officials confirmed that multiple people required medical care following the crash.

The crash caused disruptions in the area as responders worked to assist victims and clear the roadway.

Officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision.

We extend our thoughts to those injured, especially the children involved, and wish them a full and timely recovery.

What To Expect After You’ve Been Hurt In a Multi-Vehicle Crash in Ossipee, NH?

Multi-vehicle accidents, especially those involving children, can have serious and lasting consequences for families across New Hampshire. Busy routes like Route 16 in Ossipee often involve heavy traffic, intersections, and varying speeds, all of which can increase the risk of complex collisions.

When multiple vehicles are involved, determining fault becomes more complicated. Liability may be shared between drivers depending on factors such as right-of-way violations, distracted driving, speed, or failure to yield.

In cases where several people are injured, including minors, investigations typically rely on police reports, witness statements, and crash scene evidence to establish what happened.

New Hampshire follows a fault-based insurance system. This means injured victims can pursue compensation directly from the driver or drivers responsible for causing the crash. Compensation may include coverage for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, pain and suffering, and other damages related to the accident.

When children are injured, additional considerations come into play, including long-term medical care and how injuries could affect development. Parents or guardians may have the right to pursue claims on behalf of minors to ensure their needs are fully addressed.

Time limits are also important. In most personal injury cases in New Hampshire, victims generally have three years from the date of the crash to file a claim. Acting promptly can help preserve important evidence and strengthen a potential case.

Understanding your legal rights is an important step toward recovery and accountability. If you or your child was injured in a crash in Ossipee or anywhere in New Hampshire, speaking with a car accident attorney can help you understand your options and what steps to take next.

At Stephen Law, we have helped and guided families after a crash in New Hampshire. We can review your case, explain your rights, and handle all the legal aspects of your case so you can focus on your recovery.

Deering, NH (May 2, 2026) – A tragic crash on Friday, May 1, claimed the life of a 75-year-old woman in Deering. The incident happened around 4:37 p.m. along Route 149 when a vehicle left the roadway and rolled over.

Authorities said a 35-year-old man from Francestown was driving south in an Audi when the car veered off the road. The vehicle overturned and struck a woman who was standing at the end of her driveway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency units responded and found the driver hurt. Crews took him to Concord Hospital for treatment, though the extent of his injuries has not been shared. Police later charged him with negligent homicide and aggravated DUI in connection with the crash.

Officials have not released further details about what caused the vehicle to leave the road. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the woman who lost her life.

Your Legal Rights After a Fatal DUI Accident in Deering, NH

After a fatal DUI crash in Deering, New Hampshire, families have important legal rights under state law. When a deadly accident occurs on roads like Route 149 (Rte 149) or other local highways, surviving relatives may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim.

This type of civil action allows families to seek compensation for losses tied to the crash, including funeral costs, loss of financial support, and emotional suffering.

New Hampshire law holds impaired drivers accountable not only through criminal charges but also through civil liability. A DUI-related fatal crash can strengthen a wrongful death case because it shows reckless or negligent behavior behind the wheel.

Evidence such as a Deering police accident report, toxicology results, and witness statements plays a key role in establishing fault.

Time limits also apply. In most cases, families have three years from the date of the fatal accident to file a wrongful death lawsuit in New Hampshire. Missing this deadline can prevent recovery entirely, so understanding these timelines is critical.

Legal claims may arise from crashes on rural routes, residential roads, or state highways throughout Deering. A consultation with a personal injury attorney can help families understand their rights, navigate the legal process, and pursue fair compensation after a tragic DUI crash.

At Stephen Law, we have helped and guided hundreds of bereaved families in their search for justice after losing a loved one in a crash in New Hampshire. We can review your case, explain your rights, and handle communication with insurance adjusters so you can focus on honoring your loved one’s memory.

You can contact Stephen Law at (877) 663-1007 to speak with our wrongful death lawyer about your Deering pedestrian accident claim and learn more about the options that may be available to you and your family.

Manchester, NH (April 30, 2026) – A 29-year-old man from Derry died on Thursday morning, April 30, after crashing his dirt bike on the rail trail near 377 South Willow Street.

The Manchester Police responded to reports of a crash at approximately 12:15 a.m. and found the rider suffering from life-threatening injuries at the scene.

Responding officers located an XB-38 dirt bike and its rider upon arrival. Emergency units rendered aid and transported the man to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name at this time. The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by the Manchester Police Department’s Traffic Unit.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the young man lost in this tragic accident.

Legal Options Families Have After a Fatal Dirt Bike Accident in New Hampshire

When a person dies in a dirt bike accident in New Hampshire, their surviving family members may have the right to file a wrongful death claim if another party’s negligence contributed to the crash. Even in single-vehicle accidents, liability is not always limited to the rider alone. Defective equipment, poorly maintained trails, unsafe road conditions, or a product malfunction can all play a role.

Families usually face immediate costs, including funeral and burial expenses, outstanding medical bills from emergency treatment, and the long-term loss of income and support that the deceased would have contributed.

New Hampshire’s wrongful death statute allows surviving family members to seek compensation for these economic losses, as well as for the loss of the companionship, guidance, and care that the victim provided.

Dirt bike accidents raise questions that standard car accident cases do not always present. The type of bike involved, the condition of the trail or surface where the crash occurred, the maintenance history of the vehicle, and whether the rider had any mechanical issues before the accident can all become relevant during an investigation.

State law sets a three-year statute of limitations for wrongful death claims, meaning that surviving family members generally have three years from the date of death to file a lawsuit. While three years may seem like a broad timeframe, building a thorough wrongful death case takes significant preparation.

This is why acting early ensures that time-sensitive evidence is preserved and that all available legal options remain open.

Compensation in a wrongful death case may cover a range of damages, including funeral and burial costs, pre-death medical expenses, lost future income, loss of household services, and non-economic losses such as the grief and loss of companionship experienced by surviving family members.

New Hampshire law allows damages to be pursued on behalf of the deceased person’s estate and qualifying survivors. A Manchester wrongful death attorney can review the specific facts of the case and explain what types of compensation may be available based on those details.

If your family lost someone in a dirt bike accident in New Hampshire and you have questions about your legal options, Stephen Law has extensive experience reviewing fatal accident cases and helping families understand what the law may allow in their situation. Our team can walk you through the wrongful death claims process, explain what evidence matters most, and clarify what compensation your family may be eligible to pursue.

To learn more, call Stephen Law at (877) 663-1007 to speak with our legal team.

Manchester, NH (April 29, 2026) – A motorcycle accident on northbound I-93 near mile marker 20.2 brought emergency units to the scene on Monday afternoon, April 27, in Manchester. The crash was reported at approximately 2:24 p.m.

The Manchester Police and emergency units responded to the accident, including multiple rescue units and advanced life support personnel. The extent of injuries and the number of people involved have not been confirmed. Further details about what led to the crash are unavailable at this time.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.

Our thoughts remain with those affected as they receive care and recover from their injuries.

Legal Steps After a Motorcycle Accident in New Hampshire

After a motorcycle accident in New Hampshire, the first and most important step is to seek medical attention, even if injuries seem minor at first. From there, taking the right legal steps early can make a significant difference in protecting a person’s options down the road.

Common injuries in motorcycle crashes include road rash, broken bones, spinal injuries, and traumatic brain injuries. Some of these conditions require long-term treatment and rehabilitation, which can create significant financial pressure for victims and their families.

New Hampshire follows a fault-based system for car and motorcycle accidents. This means the person responsible for causing the crash can be held financially liable for the injuries and losses that follow.

New Hampshire also applies a comparative fault rule, which means that if an injured rider is found partially responsible for the accident, any compensation they may receive could be reduced by their percentage of fault. Understanding how these rules apply to a specific situation is something a Manchester motorcycle accident lawyer can help clarify.

Documentation plays an important role in any motorcycle crash. Medical records, police reports, witness statements, and photos from the scene all help build a clearer picture of what happened. Keeping organized records of treatment visits, expenses, and any missed work can also be useful as a case develops.

Many people are unsure where to start after a crash, and an attorney can help identify which documents matter most and how to gather them efficiently.

At Stephen Law, we have years of experience reviewing motorcycle accident cases and explaining the legal options available to injured riders in New Hampshire.

Manchester, NH (April 27, 2026) – On Monday, April 27, a two-vehicle crash with reported injuries occurred on Second Street at the Highway 293 on-ramp in New Hampshire. Manchester Police and emergency units responded to the scene following reports of the accident.

Authorities confirmed that two vehicles were involved in the collision. Injuries were reported at the scene. However, police have not released any details about the number of people hurt or the severity of their injuries at this time.

The cause of the crash has not been confirmed. Authorities continue to investigate the accident.

Our thoughts remain with those injured as they receive care and work toward a full and swift recovery.

5 Steps To Take After Being Injured in a Crash in Manchester, NH

After a car accident in Manchester, taking the right steps quickly can protect both your health and your legal options. These include seeking medical attention, reporting the crash to police, gathering evidence, notifying your insurance company, and considering legal guidance.

Getting a medical evaluation immediately after a crash is the single most important step an injured person can take. Some injuries, including concussions, internal bleeding, and soft tissue damage, do not always produce obvious symptoms at the scene.

A doctor’s visit creates a medical record that directly links your injuries to the accident, which becomes important during the insurance claims process.

New Hampshire law requires drivers to report accidents that involve injuries or significant property damage. A police report documents key facts about the collision, including the location, time, involved parties, and preliminary observations about what happened. This report may serve as a fundamental piece of evidence in any future claim.

If you are physically able, take photos of the vehicles, the road, and any visible injuries. Collect the names and contact information of witnesses. Note the weather and road conditions at the time of the crash. This information can be difficult to reconstruct later and may prove valuable when filing a claim.

Report the accident to your insurance company promptly. However, avoid giving detailed recorded statements or accepting any settlement offers before speaking with an attorney. Insurance adjusters work to limit payouts, and an early settlement may not fully cover the long-term costs of your injuries.

A Manchester car accident attorney can review the police report, medical records, and other available evidence to help determine what compensation may be available to you. New Hampshire follows a fault-based system, meaning the driver responsible for the crash may be held liable for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

If you have doubts after a car accident in Manchester or throughout New Hampshire, we can provide clear legal guidance. At Stephen Law, we have years of experience reviewing car accident injury cases in Manchester and can help clarify what options may be available after a crash.

You can reach Stephen Law at (877) 663-1007 to speak with our team and learn more about what steps may be available to you.

Keene, NH (April 24, 2026) – A pedestrian died Thursday night, April 23, after being struck by a vehicle on Route 12 in Keene. The Keene Police Department and emergency units responded to the scene just after 8:30 p.m.

The crash occurred on Route 12, between Maple Avenue and Wyman Road. Authorities closed that stretch of highway for approximately four hours while they investigated the accident.

The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, pending notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.

Who Can File a Claim After a Fatal Accident in New Hampshire?

In New Hampshire, certain family members may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim after a fatal accident. State law generally allows the deceased person’s estate, typically represented by a spouse, parent, or adult child, to pursue legal action when the death resulted from another party’s negligence.

Wrongful death claims in New Hampshire can seek compensation for a range of losses. These may include funeral and burial costs, lost income the deceased would have provided, and the loss of companionship and support. Each case is different, and the types of compensation available depend on the specific circumstances involved.

New Hampshire law sets a time limit for filing wrongful death claims, known as a statute of limitations. In most cases, families have three years from the date of death to take legal action. Missing that window can affect a family’s ability to pursue a claim, so speaking with an attorney early is advisable.

Gathering evidence is an important part of any wrongful death case. Police reports, witness statements, and medical records can all help establish what happened and who may be responsible. A wrongful death attorney can help identify which documents matter most and explain how the process typically works.

If you have questions about filing a wrongful death claim in New Hampshire, our team can walk you through the process. At Stephen Law, we have experience reviewing fatal accident cases across the state and can help families understand what legal options may be available after losing someone in a crash.

Contact Stephen Law at (877) 663-1007 to speak with our team about your situation and learn more about the options that may be available to you.

Manchester, NH (April 23, 2026) – A crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle left two people injured at the intersection of Union Street and Hayward Street. The Manchester Police and emergency units responded to the scene and set up detours in the surrounding area to manage traffic.

A female passenger on the motorcycle, approximately 30 years old, flew off the bike after the collision. She lost consciousness at the scene but regained awareness and was breathing and alert when emergency units transported her to the hospital. Her injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.

The motorcycle operator also suffered injuries in the crash. Emergency units issued a trauma alert for the operator upon arrival at Elliot Hospital. Authorities have not released further details about the operator’s condition.

Emergency units transported both injured individuals for medical treatment following the collision. Authorities asked drivers to avoid the area while crews managed the scene and established detour routes. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts remain with both injured individuals, and we hope for their full and speedy recovery.

Can Passengers Seek Compensation After a Motorcycle Crash in New Hampshire?

Yes, in New Hampshire, a motorcycle passenger injured in a crash can seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages resulting from the accident. Passengers generally have strong legal standing because they have no control over the vehicle and bear no responsibility for causing the crash.

If the driver of another vehicle caused the crash, the passenger can file a claim against that driver’s insurance policy. If the motorcycle operator contributed to the collision, the passenger may also have a claim against the operator’s insurance.

In some cases, both parties share responsibility, and a Manchester motorcycle accident attorney can help identify all available sources of compensation based on the specific facts of the accident.

New Hampshire follows a fault-based insurance system, which means the party responsible for causing a crash bears financial responsibility for resulting injuries. The state does not require drivers to carry personal injury protection coverage. This makes identifying fault a critical part of any injury claim.

Timing matters in New Hampshire injury cases. The state generally allows three years from the date of the accident for an injured person to file a personal injury claim in court. Missing that deadline can prevent a person from pursuing compensation entirely.

Our team at Stephen Law has extensive experience reviewing motorcycle injury cases across New Hampshire and explaining the options available to injured passengers. We can help clarify how fault is determined, what insurance coverage may apply, and what steps may be available based on your specific situation.

Contact Stephen Law at (877) 663-1007 to speak with our legal team and learn more about your available options after a crash.

Hooksett, NH (April 20, 2026) – A traffic accident with injuries caused disruption on Friday, April 17, at the intersection of Route 3A and Hackett Hill Road in Hooksett. Emergency units responded to the scene after receiving reports of a crash involving more than two vehicles.

Hooksett Fire arrived and began assisting those involved in the collision. Officials confirmed that the crash resulted in injuries, though they have not released the number of people hurt or the severity of those injuries.

Crews worked to manage the scene and minimize traffic congestion and road blockage, since the accident led to significant traffic backup in the area as responders cleared the vehicles and assisted victims.

Investigators have not shared details about what caused the crash. Officials continue to gather information as part of the ongoing review.

Our thoughts are with those injured as they receive care and work toward recovery.

What Should I Do if I Was Hurt in a Traffic Accident in New Hampshire?

If you were hurt in a traffic accident in New Hampshire, you should seek medical care right away, report the crash, and begin documenting what happened. These steps help protect your health and create a clear record for any next actions.

Medical attention should come first, even if symptoms feel mild at the time. Some injuries, such as soft tissue damage or head trauma, may take hours or days to appear. Early evaluation helps identify these issues and creates records that can support follow-up care and track recovery over time.

Reporting the accident is another important step. A New Hampshire police accident report can document key facts such as the location, time, and initial observations from the scene. This information becomes useful when reviewing how the crash occurred or when dealing with insurance companies.

Also, keep track of details. Photos of the vehicles, road conditions, and any visible injuries may provide helpful context later. Gathering contact information from witnesses can support a clearer understanding of the situation if questions arise.

A car accident lawyer can help review accident reports, explain insurance coverage, and outline possible options. They may also assist with communication between parties and help organize documents such as medical bills and repair estimates. This can be especially helpful in crashes involving multiple vehicles, where responsibility may not be immediately clear.

If you have questions after a crash, you can speak with our attorneys to review your situation and explore available options. At Stephen Law Group, our legal team can explain how insurance, documentation, and timelines may apply under New Hampshire law.

To learn more, you can contact Stephen Law Group at (877) 663-1007 to arrange a free consultation.

What Evidence Is Important in a Premises Liability Claim in New Hampshire

Strong evidence is important in a premises liability claim in New Hampshire because it helps show how an injury happened and whether a property owner may be responsible. Key evidence often includes photos, witness statements, incident reports, and maintenance records.

Photos and videos can document the exact condition of the area where the injury occurred. This may include showing hazards like loose materials, poor storage, or unsafe structures. Witnesses can provide helpful details about what they saw, especially if they noticed unsafe conditions before the incident.

Injury incidents involving falling objects can lead to serious physical effects. People may suffer head injuries, fractures, or other trauma depending on the impact. Medical records, treatment plans, and follow-up visits help connect the injury to the incident and track recovery over time.

A personal injury lawyer can review the evidence and explain how it may apply under New Hampshire law. This can include organizing records, reviewing reports, and answering questions about how claims may move forward. Legal guidance may also help clarify what options are available based on the details of the case.

Loudon, NH (April 11, 2026) – A young child suffered severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Friday, April 10, in Loudon. The incident happened outside a home along Chichester Road, according to police.

Officers said a 5-year-old child was hit by a car in the area under circumstances that are still being investigated by law enforcement officials.

Emergency units arrived at the scene and provided immediate care before the child was taken to a nearby hospital. Authorities confirmed the child remains in critical condition following the crash.

Details about how the accident occurred or the driver involved have not been released at this time. Investigators have not said whether any charges or citations may follow as they continue reviewing the situation.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.

Our thoughts are with the child and their family as they face this challenging time and ongoing medical care. We hope for a full and swift recovery.

How many children are injured as pedestrians in the US?

Data from the Children’s Safety Network shows that an average of about 67,000 children are injured as pedestrians each year in the U.S., with several hundred fatalities reported annually. Research published by the American Academy of Pediatrics also found that over 31,000 children and teens were treated for pedestrian injuries in a single recent year, emphasizing how common these incidents remain.

These child pedestrian accident statistics show that injuries happen close to home, frequently on residential streets rather than major intersections.

In a wider picture and according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 140,000 pedestrians of all ages are treated in emergency departments annually for crash-related injuries.

In New Hampshire, certain roads and highways have raised pedestrian safety concerns due to traffic speed and design. Routes such as Route 106, Route 3, and Loudon Road are known for steady traffic flow and limited pedestrian infrastructure in some areas.

Busy corridors such as Interstate 93 also pose risks near exits and crossings where foot traffic mixes with vehicles. These conditions increase the likelihood of pedestrian crashes, especially for children.

If a child or loved one is injured in a pedestrian accident, working with a pedestrian accident lawyer in Loudon, NH, can offer important advantages. An attorney can help gather evidence, deal with insurance companies, and pursue fair compensation for medical bills and long-term care.

Legal guidance also ensures your rights are protected while you focus on recovery, making the process less stressful during a difficult time.

At Stephen Law Group, we have experience reviewing pedestrian accident claims in Loudon and assisting accident victims and families with insurance-related concerns. To learn more, you can contact our pedestrian accident lawyer at 877-663-1007 today.
