Keene, NH – Senior Woman hit & Killed By Recycling Truck on Winchester St

Keene, NH (May 20, 2026) – A tragic pedestrian accident claimed the life of a person in Keene. A 78-year-old woman died after a crash involving a recycling truck outside a restaurant on Winchester Street. The accident happened shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19.

Authorities said Pamela Savard was walking behind a recycling truck as the driver backed into the Chipotle parking lot. During the maneuver, the truck struck Savard, causing fatal injuries. Emergency crews responded to the scene, but officials confirmed the woman died from her injuries.

Officials closed part of Ivy Drive and the parking lot for several hours while investigators documented the scene and gathered evidence. Police are also asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to contact investigators.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
