Manchester, NH – 29-Year-Old Man Killed in Dirt Bike Crash Near South Willow St

Stephen Law Group Injury Lawyers

Manchester, NH (April 30, 2026) – A 29-year-old man from Derry died early Thursday morning, April 30, after crashing his dirt bike on the rail trail near 377 South Willow Street in Manchester. Manchester Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash at approximately 12:15 a.m. and found the rider suffering from life-threatening injuries at the scene.

Responding officers located an XB-38 dirt bike and its rider upon arrival. Emergency units rendered aid and transported the man to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name at this time. The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by the Manchester Police Department’s Traffic Unit.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the young man lost in this tragic accident.

When a person dies in a dirt bike accident in New Hampshire, their surviving family members may have the right to file a wrongful death claim if another party’s negligence contributed to the crash. Even in single-vehicle accidents, liability is not always limited to the rider alone. Defective equipment, poorly maintained trails, unsafe road conditions, or a product malfunction can all play a role — and each of these factors can point to a party that may bear some responsibility for what happened.

Families often face immediate costs including funeral and burial expenses, outstanding medical bills from emergency treatment, and the long-term loss of income and support that the deceased would have contributed. New Hampshire’s wrongful death statute allows surviving family members to seek compensation for these economic losses, as well as for the loss of the companionship, guidance, and care that the victim provided.

Dirt bike accidents raise questions that standard car accident cases do not always present. The type of bike involved, the condition of the trail or surface where the crash occurred, the maintenance history of the vehicle, and whether the rider had any mechanical issues prior to the accident can all become relevant during an investigation.

New Hampshire law sets a three-year statute of limitations for wrongful death claims, meaning that surviving family members generally have three years from the date of death to file a lawsuit. While three years may seem like ample time, building a thorough wrongful death case takes significant preparation. Acting early ensures that time-sensitive evidence is preserved and that all available legal options remain open.

Compensation in a wrongful death case may cover a range of damages, including funeral and burial costs, pre-death medical expenses, lost future income, loss of household services, and non-economic losses such as the grief and loss of companionship experienced by surviving family members.

New Hampshire law allows damages to be pursued on behalf of the deceased person’s estate and qualifying survivors. A Manchester wrongful death attorney can review the specific facts of the case and explain what types of compensation may be available based on those details.
