How Fault Can Be Shared Among Several Drivers in Dover, NH
When more than two vehicles are involved, the hardest question is usually who owes what. New Hampshire generally holds each at-fault driver responsible only for the share of harm that driver caused, rather than the full amount. As a result, someone who seeks compensation may be dealing with several insurers at once, each pointing toward another driver.
Evidence tends to decide how those shares are divided. Photos of vehicle positions, damage patterns, nearby camera footage, and driver statements can show the order in which vehicles made contact.
New Hampshire generally allows three years from the date of injury to file a personal injury lawsuit, though insurers start evaluating fault much earlier. Early adjuster statements can lock in an account of what happened, so many people ask a car accident lawyer to review the facts before giving a recorded statement.
That review can also identify every driver and policy that may apply, including any uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage, though results depend on the evidence and coverage involved.
