Salisbury, MA – State Trooper Seriously Injured in Crash on I-95 S Near I-495

Salisbury, MA (February 15, 2026) – A Massachusetts State Police trooper suffered serious injuries in a crash on Saturday, February 14, on Interstate 95 south in Salisbury, just before Interstate 495.

According to officials, the accident happened around 2:15 p.m. as the trooper was removing a ladder from the left travel lane. After clearing the ladder, he returned to his cruiser and fastened his seatbelt. Moments later, another vehicle struck the rear of the cruiser without warning.

The trooper, who is assigned to the Newbury Barracks, had his emergency lights activated at the time of the collision. Paramedics took him to Portsmouth Regional Hospital in New Hampshire with serious injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was also hurt and was taken to Lawrence General Hospital. Authorities have not released details about the extent of that person’s injuries, and it remains unclear if charges will be filed.
